REIKI

  • What is Reiki?
Pronounced ray-kee, Reiki is an ancient hands-on-healing art that was re-introduced in the mid 19th century by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan. “Rei” means cosmic knowledge or coming from Spirit. “Ki” means Life Force Energy. Life Force Energy is referred to in all cultures and wisdom traditions and is utilized in all hands on healing modalities. Reiki stands for 'Spiritually Guided Life Force Energy' and is known for its positive health benefits. Reiki is a holistic healing system working to create spiritual, mental and physical harmony by stimulating the body's innate and natural healing ability. Reiki supports the release of physical and emotional blockages while replenishing energy into each energy center or (chakra), to restore vitality and balance. One of the greatest Reiki healing health benefits is stress reduction and relaxation, which triggers the bodies natural healing abilities, and improves and maintains health. This simple, non- invasive healing system works with the higher self of the receiver to promote health and well being of the entire physical, emotional, and intuitive body. Therefore it is truly a system of attaining and promoting wholeness of mind, body, and spirit. Reiki is a specific type of subtle energy work in which healing is performed by the touch of the hands, allowing more flow of universal life force energy to the recipients major energy centers. This extremely powerful yet gentle energy can be easily channeled to yourself and others just by intention. As beautifully described by my mentor and teacher, "Reiki is a practical healing art for our time. Reiki supports our re-balancing and restoration to our body on the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual levels. Reiki is a gift of grace to be called upon and implemented into every aspect of our lives – from discernment of daily decisions and gaining clarity as we move through major transitions, to stress relief needed in our bodies due to physical discomfort or emotional concerns which may lead to feeling unbalanced." • What are the benefits of Reiki?
A Reiki session can induce an extremely comfortable state of being that stimulates a persons body to enter their parasympathetic nervous system. There are two states that our body can be in physically and mentally: The sympathetic nervous system, and the parasympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system is widely known as our flight or fight response. This response releases hormones that trigger the heart to beat faster and pulls blood into the areas that need to react fast in life threatening situations. The parasympathetic nervous system is the exact opposite. It is stimulated when we are still, relaxed, and calm, thus releasing even blood flow and oxygen to all parts of the body. This state of being is particularly important for the body because healing only takes place when the body is in the parasympathetic state. Feeling stressed about the demands of everyday life keeps our body in fight or flight mode. Supplementing with regular Reiki sessions can be the perfect go to remedy for stress relief, relaxation, and a balanced body and mind. Reiki can help promote: Better Sleep Mental/Emotional Well-being Physical Healing Stress Relief Positive Mindset Mastery Healthy Blood & Oxygen Circulation A Healthy Perinatal Cycle Easing Premenstrual Symptoms Connection to Your Life's Purpose and SO much more! It can be used also as a complementary therapy. It complements and enhances the health care patients receive in the hospital or from other health care providers. Modern medical practices are beginning to embrace Reiki and have even implemented practitioner treatments in cancer treatment facilities due to its positive results. Reiki healing complements Eastern and Western medicine and EVERYBODY can benefit from it.
  • What is it like experiencing a Reiki session?
During your session you may feel physical or emotional sensations. This is very common as energy centers that are being cleared start flowing freely and your body releases stagnant energy. You may also experience an emotional release that you may or may not know the conscious reason to. This is also very common. To cleanse the body's energy centers and clear stagnation you do not need to know what caused the blockage or recall any negative experiences. While energy centers are being cleared gently they are also being nourished and replenished. During your session you may simply feel relaxed. Your body will enter it's state of healing through activation of the parasympathetic nervous system. If you do not experience any physical or emotional sensations this is also normal. Your energy centers, body, mind, and spirit are being bathed in nourishing life force energy.
  • What can I expect during an in person Reiki session?
During an an in person Reiki session the client is fully clothed and lays comfortably during the duration of the session. Reiki can also be performed in a chair or customized to a clients needs. (ie. wheelchair, hospital bed) There will be time before and after your session to effectively discuss your thoughts and experiences. This part of our time together is very important. We will go into your session by setting your intention and then finish with an affirmation. Your space will be prepared with a therapy table, fresh linens and pillows, a warm or lightweight throw blanket and soothing music that contains healing frequencies. In my sessions I intuitively incorporate the following (Though not all guaranteed) : Plant spirits (pure essential oils), the 4 elements (fire, water, earth, wind), tuning forks/singing bowls, crystals, breath work and guided meditation. I may see images or colors as well as hear sounds or words that I will share with you. I may also provide a short guidance oracle card reading to obtain further intuitive messages.. Reiki helps us connect deeply to our higher power and soul purpose and can help propel us into living a truly meaningful life that's free of old self limiting beliefs.
  • What are the 7 major chakras?
The first chakra is the Root, located behind the pubic bone. It governs the human talent of acceptance and encompasses our organs of elimination. Here we find foundation, security, and habit. It's responsible for our reproductive organs, our sense of survival and works on our Adrenal Gland (fight or flight) response. The second chakra is the Sacral, located about an inch below the naval. It governs the human talent of creativity, emotions, sexuality, and desires. It controls our relationships and social interactions with others. It is responsible for our lower intestines, digestive system, ovaries, and testes glands. The third chakra is the Solar Plexus, located just below the sternum. It governs our inner power, confidence, self worth, sense of control, coordination, emotional balance, and metabolic energy. When we feel upset, angry or hurt we often feel this chakra. Its primal essence is that of the Will. It is responsible for the stomach, kidneys, pancreas, liver, and spleen. The fourth chakra is the Heart center, located over the heart. It governs compassion, love for all living beings, and love for ourselves. It is responsible for the heart, circulatory/respiratory systems, and thymus gland. The fifth chakra is the Throat center, located just beneath the chin. It governs the part of the body in which we literally "find our voice." This chakra houses the human talent of truth and communication. It is responsible for the thyroid gland. The sixth chakra is the Third Eye point, located between the eyebrows. It governs intuition, physical vision, and our extrasensory talent of vision. It is the spiritual center of our physical body and its essence is within the astral and dreaming worlds. It is responsible for the pituitary gland. The seventh chakra is the Crown, located at the top of the head (where you find the soft spot on a newborn baby). This chakra governs knowledge, information, and understanding. It is where all universal life force energy enters and flows through the body. This chakra is our spiritual gateway to our higher self. It is responsible for our brain, nervous system and pineal gland.
